Imagine a customer calls your sales team to order something your business manufactures. Do you have enough stock? If not, how quickly can you make it? Are the materials ready?

This is where many businesses stumble. Sales talks to Inventory. Inventory asks Purchasing. Manufacturing waits for the green light. Delays happen, emails are missed, and deadlines slip. In Odoo, these activities can be connected as one workflow.

It starts with the customer request

Sales sends a quotation and the customer confirms the order. Odoo checks whether the product is available, whether it is made to order, and whether production is needed. The sales order signals what must move, what must be made, and when it needs to be delivered.

Inventory coordinates the work

Inventory checks whether the finished product is ready and whether raw materials are available. If something is missing, procurement rules can trigger the next action rather than relying on a manual stock check. Inventory acts as the connection between demand, purchasing, and production.

Purchasing and manufacturing respond

When materials are low, reordering rules and procurement strategies can notify Purchasing. Purchase orders go to suppliers, and incoming materials become available for production. The Manufacturing Order can then be prepared and its work orders scheduled. Materials move from Inventory into production; finished goods return to stock ready to fulfill the sales order.

Each part is connected rather than isolated: Sales drives demand, Inventory balances stock, Purchasing supplies materials, and Manufacturing produces what is needed. A connected workflow keeps teams aligned and makes it easier to focus on quality and delivery instead of chasing updates across spreadsheets and email.
